Remember to protect your energy

Remember to protect your energy

Quick Affirmation & protection visualisation exercises

Remember you are what you think and say, so be kind to yourself, have positive thoughts and look after your energy.

An affirmation that can help with this

Place your left hand over your heart and your right hand on you solar plexus and say aloud or think the following affirmation:

I release all energy that is not mine and accept the healing energies in to cleanse my body, mind and soul.

This can be done however many times you feel the need to do so.

You may like to close your eyes and relax into it like meditating. You can sit stand or lie down whichever feels right for you.

Personal protection visualisation

Close your eyes and visualise yourself stepping into a whole body protective suit or a bubble. Do this at the beginning of the day or whenever you feel you need it & when you need to change it, visualise yourself taking it off and disposing of it. Repeat the process as necessary.

You are training your mind to protect your body and your immune system. If you do this regularly it will become a habit and your mind will work with you not against you.

The most powerful tool you have is your mind, use it wisely to protect yourself.

I hope this help some of you

Love and light

How the Sounds Help Us In Our Lives

How the Sounds Help Us In Our Lives

Hi Everyone,

I thought I would chat to you a little about sound and what an impact it can have on our lives. From the music we listen to, the sounds that grate on us and the sounds that relax us. The different feelings we get from being in a crowded, busy place, compared to when we have got time to relax and listen to our favorite music, sit by a running stream or waterfall listening to the birds singing or chilling out to a lovely piece of meditation music. Sound has been a critical sense for preservation and well-being from the time man first lived on the earth. Man’s ability to sense sound has been key in everything from communicating with others to alerting to imminent danger. The sensation of sound is one of our most primal senses and therefore very deeply embedded in the brain. The brain’s sense of hearing is the first sense to be developed in the womb and the last sense to lose in death. The therapeutic effects of sound and music are natural and an innate part of our being. From a mother’s first words to her unborn baby to the therapeutic effects of laughing and crying, sound affects our physical and psychological state automatically.

Sound Therapy was originally developed by the French ear, nose and throat specialist, Dr Alfred A. Tomatis, who made some very important discoveries about the role that the ear plays in the health of our brain and nervous system. Tomatis specialised in education and took his method into the schools, where his program helped hundreds of children with dyslexia to learn to read. He also helped singers and people with industrial deafness.

Since 1989 Sound Therapy International has been furthering the research and development of Sound Therapy through public education, research, practitioner training and technological advances.

Many cultures recognise the importance of music and sound as healing power. In the ancient civilisations of India, the Orient, Europe and Africa, the practice of using sound to heal and achieve balance from within has existed for many years.

The Tibetans still use bells, chimes, bowls and chanting as the foundation of their spiritual practice. In Bali, Indonesia, the gong and drum are used in ceremonies to uplift and send messages. The Australian Aboriginals and Native American shamans use vocal toning and repetitive sound vibration with instruments in sacred ceremonies to adjust any imbalance of spirit.

Science tells us that everything in the universe is in a state of vibration and the frequency at which an object or person most naturally vibrates is called resonance. The chakras, bones and organs in the body all possess a different resonant frequency. When an organ, or part of the body, is vibrating out of harmony, it is called “dis-ease” or disease. A body is in a healthy state of being when each cell, each organ creates a resonance that is in harmony with the whole being. Sound Therapy aims to bring the body and mind back into harmony, re-tuning to the vibrations and frequencies of the different instruments used.

An important part of Sound Therapy is being mindful of the sound, it is taking time out to listen, really listen to the sounds and feel the vibrations. By listening intently, you start to relax the brain. The logical left side and the creative, more spiritual right side become more balanced.

The Equipment we use in Sound Therapy

Tibetan Chimes

Tibetan chimes are traditionally used by Tibetan Buddhists to mark the beginning and end of meditation. They are also used by a Buddhist master to bring a student back into focus when his mind wanders during meditation. The sound is penetrating and lacks harmony, unlike the harmonic tones of the Tibetan singing bowls. By gently tapping them together you can make a soft sound, or by holding the leather cord at its centre and swinging the chimes together so that they strike each other strongly, you can make a louder sound.

Tibetan Singing Bowls

Tibetan bowls were originally designed for eating bowls; but it was discovered that they also had healing qualities, used for centuries by the Tibetans and beyond. Each bowl has its own innate sound. No bowl is the same. Each bowl has a different musical note which corresponds to the body. By using the bowls, it allows the body to synchronise back to its natural state. Everything vibrates, so the Tibetan bowls vibration will affect your body in a positive way.

When the bowls are struck they produce tones. When there is a difference in tone over a certain area of your body, that part of your body is not running naturally. It is corrected by keeping the bowl over that point until the tone returns to its natural state. It allows all the energy centres in the body (Chakras) to become balanced.

Crystal Sound Bowls

The pure and beautiful tone of crystal bowls produces a vibrational sound that helps to align your Chakras and are frequently used for Chakra meditation. When using multiple bowls like this set of Crystal Quartz Singing Bowls the different notes that each bowl creates corresponds to a certain Chakra and physical centre on the body. The noises resonate and correspond to the seven Chakras or energy centres on the body and help to heal the listener by bringing pure light though sound and the effects are multiplied when played through a high quality quartz crystal bowl. Crystal Quartz Singing bowls can help to enhance your quality of life and overall mental health and sense of well-being. It is so important to keep your Chakras aligned and energy flowing freely throughout the body and using these Crystal Quartz Singing Bowls will help to balance your energy field.

Drums

Drums have been used for thousands of years to promote healing and well-being. The vibration of the rhythm resonates on a deep soul level raising your vibration, and the higher vibration brings body and soul into balance. Drumming works by entrainment.

Repeating a specific rhythm moves the lower vibration up to match the higher vibrating rhythm.

The longer the rhythm is played the strong the entrainment. Changing or raising your vibration changes your moods, increases your consciousness, and can bring your physical body back to its healthy state.

Brainwave entrained is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a repeating / pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulse elicits the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat. … This is called Brainwave Entrainment.

Most Binaural beats work on the principle of Entrainment. That is, the external sound will try to change ‘brain-waves’ in a way to match itself. Thus, the binaural beat of a particular frequency will enhance a certain frequency in the brain which will then have a particular outcome.

Some of the benefits include deep relaxation, stress relief, clarity & deeper self awareness, acceleration of physical healing, accesses the whole brain, doubles alpha brain waves (calming), quiets the mind. Drumming benefits all areas of your life: Spiritual, Physical, Mental, Communication, Consciousness, Synchronises both sides of the brain. This is one of the most important benefits of vibrational healing. Bringing both hemispheres of the brain into balance leads to transformation of blockages, heightened awareness, new insights and different ways of thinking. The practice of drumming has been with mankind for millennia and is still a mainstay of many tribal cultures. Drumming allows an individual to relax and release, finding a comfortable rhythm and influencing personal vibration. When groups drum together, known as a drum circle, a harmonious beat is found that all can join. The group energy is enhanced as harmony is achieved, and each participant grows from the experience. We hold a monthly drum circle here if anyone fancies it. The key element of drumming is the sound, which carries the rhythm. Sound is energy. Sound travels in pulses and ripples, carrying vibration.

One hand holds the drum by the strings, and the other hand holds a mallet and beats the drum. By striking a consistently paced rhythm, a growing sound wave is formed, rippling like waves in a pond. Once the drumbeat is steady enough, the drum will begin to hum continuously, even between the beats. A rhythm played repetitively and harmoniously can amplify sound beyond its original volume, creating a hum that raises the level of vibration. You can drum alone, to learn your own harmonious vibration. Begin with the heartbeat sound (thump-thump-pause-thump-thump-pause) and continue at an even pace. The speed of the beat should be adjusted until it feels right, and until the drum carries a constant humming vibration. When played properly, a drum makes more sound than just the drumbeat. As you drum, relax into a meditative state and find your balance and rhythm. As you drum, hold the drum over your heart and feel your chest vibrate from the drum energy.

- We will do a short meditation in class, but this can be practised more at home.

The drums can be used on a patient, the recipient is encouraged to relax to the rhythmic sound of the drum, and then the healing session process is followed.

Tuning Forks

Tuning forks have been used for over 300 years to bring about a state of harmony. They bring harmony between voices, instruments and people. On a personal level, they help us to achieve balance, they relieve pain and help to dissipate blockages in our energy system and promote the sense of ‘Love, Harmony and Healing’ we all strive towards. The healing vibrations of the tuning forks can alter the body’s biochemistry and bring your nervous system, muscle tone and organs into harmonic balance. Healing with tuning forks brings our body into natural rhythm, helping to induce deep relaxation. They can also be used with the energy system in our body, connecting on the cosmic multi-dimensions of our Chakras, our subtle bodies and other energy gateways & pathways. When a tuning fork is struck, it not only vibrates the fork, but also vibrates the surrounding air space with the same frequency of vibration. This sends the vibration as an impulse through the air. This vibration can be harnessed to help increase the healing energy inside us.

A healing session using tuning forks is a very individual and gentle treatment. The healing vibrations of the tuning forks, penetrate deeply into our being, healing us on every level as needed: Body, mind, emotions & spirit. Using specific pitches, sounds and vibrations to relieve stress, pain and bring about homeostasis within the body.

The benefits of using tuning forks?

Tuning Forks benefit the human body at all levels as sound and frequency affects every atom & every cell to:

• Improve overall physical health.

• Relieve pain and stress. • Balance Nervous system.

• Reduce Inflammation. • Induce relaxation.

• Uncover & balance emotions.

• Induce relaxation. • Facilitate inner harmony

. Balance Chakras and release energy blocks.

With the tuning forks you strike them and place close to one ear, listen right until the sound fades and then strike the tuning fork and listen with the other ear. By tuning into the forks, it tunes the body in various ways. For example: the OM allows a real sense of peace, soothing and nurturing to be felt, the weighted OM is a sonic sound bath for your body, especially when you stem the end of the tuning fork onto your body & the 528hz tuning fork completes the sound experience, it is known as the DNA fork and gets in right at a cellular level.

With Acu Sound Therapy we use tuning forks in a non-invasive way to re-align and balance the body’s natural energy fields and to help clear energetic blockages, working on specific Acu points in the body, as well as on the Chakras and within the aura.

Harmonic sound, both audible and vibrational can locate and resolve energetic disharmony. This supports self-healing and is complementary to other therapies, often being used alongside or within other treatments. This gentle and enjoyable method is opening up fascinating new areas of subtle work.

Acu Sound Therapy can be used to treat any illness or ailment be they physical or emotional, as it works at a fundamental energetic level. This treatment is non-invasive as it is applied through clothes and therefore can be performed anywhere.

At my clinic I am taking bookings for Sound & Acusound treatments as well as running regular sounds baths/meditations.

10 Top Tips For Boosting Your Immunity

10 Top Tips for Boosting Your Immunity

Love your gut

Around 80% of the immune system is in your gut. If your gut is out of balance it follows that your immunity is lowered. Beneficial bacteria such as Lactobaccilus have been shown to reduce inflammation & aid in the production of antibodies to pathogens. An out of balance gut has also been linked to the development of allergies. If considering taking a probiotic take great care in choosing the right one. It has to be a brand that has been proved in clinical trials to survive stomach acid and make it to the small intestine intact so that it can thrive there. A way of ensuring that your are constantly topping up the good bacteria is by including fermented foods such as kefir and sauerkraut in your diet.

Get enough sleep

Studies show that people who don’t get quality sleep are more likely to get sick after being exposed to a virus, such as the common cold. Everyone is different and we all need different amounts of sleep…but as a general rule:

Adults 7.5 - 9 hours

12 – 18 years 8.5 – 10 hours

5 – 12 years 10 – 11 hours

3 to 5 years 11 – 13 hours

1 – 3 years 12 – 14 hours

3 months – 1 year old 14 – 15 hours

Newborn – 2 months old 12 – 18 hours

Avoid sugar and processed foods.

Especially refined sugars such as HFCS, and processed foods. Eat local, seasonal, organic and fresh for maximum health benefits.

Make sure you are getting your Essential Fatty Acids in the right balance.

An indication of diet lacking in omega 3 is lowered immune function. A typical western diet means consuming Omega 6 in excess (20 times more than Omega 3) the ideal ratio should equal. This imbalance contributes to chronic inflammation. To brind it into balance cut back on all vegetable oils (these are included in most processed foods). Try to include the following in your diet: Oily fish, flaxseeds, flaxseed oil, walnuts, chia seeds, eggs, olive oil (not heated), or include an omega 3 supplement such as flax seed oil or a fish or krill oil from a sustainable source.

Make sure you are getting enough Vitamin D

According to the government’s National Diet and Nutrition Survey, low blood levels of Vitamin D are common across all age groups in the UK & causes a lowered immune system…. Great sources of Vitamin D are oily fish, eggs, and by exposing your skin to the sun, stimulating the body to make it’s own Vit D). If you choose to supplement with a good Vit D look for Vitamin D3, which is closer to the naturally occurring Vitamin D in our bodies in preference to Vitamin D2.

Take homeopathic or other forms of constitutional treatment to boost the immune system.

You can visit your homeopath or Holistic Health Practitioner even if you are healthy as receiving good constitutional treatment can give the immune system a boost.

Avoid stress

Many studies have linked stress to lowered immune system function. When you are stressed your body releases the hormone cortisol, which prepares your body to fight or flee. Chronic stress makes your immune system less sensitive to cortisol which in turn heightens the inflammatory response and allows inflammation to get out of control….So… take steps to manage stress. A few suggestions… mindfulness, meditation, Yoga, Thai Chi, reading a book, a walk in the woods, a soak in the bath, a massage whatever works for you but make sure you are building in some relaxation to everyday schedules.

Listen to your body it has a built in system that tells us what we need and we need to train ourselves to listen again. If you feel tired then rest. Look out for the signs and symptoms that the body is sharing with us.

Use herbs and spices that are known to have immune boosting properties.

Echinacea, Elderberry, Ginseng, Ginkgo Biloba, Astragalus and Cat’s Claw, taken as a herbal supplement, in tincture form or in a tea, are just some herbs that are known to be anti-inflammatory and immune boosting. Look for ways to include Garlic, Turmeric and Ginger in your diet for their known immune boosting properties.

Exercise – but not to excess

Science has proven that regular exercise – at least 30 minutes most days of the week-increases immune function. You don’t have to go to the gym, the exercise could be vigorous walking, swimming, or for children just being outside running about, playing and acting like kids! Moderate exercise increases the numbers of all types of white blood cells and makes natural killer cells become more active and effective. Interestingly, excessive exercise regimes, such as running a marathon, can temporarily hinder immune function.

EFT

Emotional Freedom Technique or ‘Tapping’ which has been shown to help remove negative emotions, help with stress, and reduce or eliminate pain. E.F.T. works on the energy meridians and is a form of psychological acupressure.

Here is how to ‘Thump Your Thymus” to stimulate the production of white blood cells.

• Take a couple of deep, relaxing breaths.

• Using your fingertips or side of your fist, tap up and down about 2-3 inches along your sternum, between and above your mammary glands.

• The thymus is located behind the third rib, but any vibrations along the length of the upper sternum stimulates it.

• Do this for 15-20 seconds and continue to take regular slow breaths.

• Do 1-3 times a day or up to 4 during times of acute illness.

Edited 17/3/2020 - To help with the Corona Virus.

Throughout flu season

To give extra support to the immune system:
